We’ve all heard the word “Entrepreneur,” but what is an “Infopreneur?” An infopreneur is a professional information collector. When I first heard the word, I immediately associated it with authors or journalists. But did you know bloggers and internet marketers are also infopreneurs? And here’s why. Bloggers and online marketers create content. And what is content? Information. Therefore, anyone who is creating content is an infopreneur. Makes sense, right?

What Is An Entrepreneur?

An entrepreneur is an innovator and self-starter who has enough courage and initiative to launch and run their own business. These people have an enterprising spirit and enough gumption to put their dreams into action. Small business owners are entrepreneurs, whether they operate a brick and mortar business or an online website where all transactions are handled online.

Entrepreneurship begins with a dream, is infused with desire, and is propelled forward with sufficient drive and dedication to put these dreams and desires into action. Passion, persistence, patience, faith, and fortitude are requisite characteristics an entrepreneur must have. When times are tough, and tough times will come, these virtues will be relied on again and again.

Information Entrepreneur

Information is anything that communicates facts, knowledge, theories, premises, or statistics. This knowledge is conveyed in many different forms, including television, radio, newspaper and magazine articles, and of course, the vast repository of knowledge that’s on the internet, where massive amounts of information is easily accessible via smartphones, desktops, and tablets.

Based on these facts, an infopreneur is an entrepreneur who is in the business of sharing information in a variety of formats, such as articles, blog posts, videos, podcasts, and presentations. Infopreneurs are not limited in how they dispatch their knowledge, nor are they limited to certain subsets of people as it’s now possible to reach millions of people through the click of a mouse.

Online Affiliate Marketing

Online marketing is a method used to recommend and sell services and products on the internet. It is used in conjunction with content based marketing (more on this below). Affiliate marketing is an exceptional way to engage with a target audience and automate your business at the same time. However, you’ll need to be patient and stick with it because this type of marketing strategy does not generate income overnight.

You’ll need to fill your blog with amazing content. Overtime, this content will drive traffic to your site. Once your have a steady stream of visitors, your conversion rates will increase, and you’ll begin to see sales. Fortunately, there is no overhead in an affiliate marketing business, nor is it necessary to hire employees, although a virtual assistant can come in mighty handy.

The first step you’ll need to take is to build a website where your weekly blogs posts will reside. Consistency is key and you’ll see success much sooner if you produce content on a regular basis. At some point in the future, after you site takes off, you could consider hiring a virtual assistant or writer to help create content for you or help with your email and social media campaigns.

Content Based Marketing

Content or education-based marketing is a form of marketing that involves sharing informative content, including recommendations for products and services. This is done by placing affiliate links within your content.

When someone reads an article you wrote, and clicks on one of your links, they can choose to purchase what you’ve recommended. You make a commission if they decide to buy that particular product or service, and they get to enjoy a product you’ve shared pertinent details about.

I don’t know about you, but I like buying products that have been personally recommended by someone I know and trust. To be an effective content marketer, you’ll need to write engaging and useful content on a regular basis. This is how you’ll build brand awareness, authority and trust, and is what will keep your readers returning to your blog.
