10 Characteristics Of A Successful Entrepreneur - The Words "Trust Yourself"

What Is An Internet Marketing Entrepreneur?

Simply put, an entrepreneur is someone who endeavors to design and launch a new business, most often, a small business. These individuals are willing to step out into unfamiliar, and sometimes uncharted territory, with all its inherent risks and potential profit.
Courageous and innovative, entrepreneurs have the ingenuity and vision to embrace new opportunities and ways of doing things. They also possess self-confidence, believing in themselves and their abilities. Here are 10 characteristics successful people share:

Characteristics Of A Successful Entrepreneur

1. Believe In Your Dreams

All great accomplishments begin with an idea, a vision, or a dream. It’s the dreamers that are the movers and the shakers in this world because they make things happen. Belief in a dream is the propelling force underlying any great victory or success.

Without vision, there would be no creative inventions, no businesses launched, and no innovative ways of doing things. Throw curiosity and resourcefulness into the mix, and you’ve got yourself a winner.

2. Love What You’re Doing

This characteristic piggy backs off the previous characteristic – believing in your dreams. Starting a new business is not for the faint of heart. There will be plenty of tough times when frustration, fatigue, and lack of motivation can get the best of even those who love what they’re doing.

Without this love, however, it will be nearly impossible to trudge through those stormy times when you lose your perspective, and no inspiration can be found. It’s the love for what you’re doing that will carry you through those hard times, allowing you to remain in the game.

3. Self Discipline Is The Key To Success

Accomplished business owners do what they don’t feel like doing because they know it’s imperative to their success. They understand that self-mastery is a crucial key to achieving their dreams. With enough focus, patience, and persistence, most self-disciplined people will achieve their goals in time.

Those who don’t capitulate under pressure, capitalize on their strengths, acknowledge their weaknesses, and have a healthy supply of self-discipline. They seek out trusted individuals who excel where, they themselves, are lacking. They are humble enough to seek guidance from others they trust because they believe in collaboration.

4. Big Picture Thinking Skills

Starting any new endeavor is exciting, but is fraught with uncertainties. People who make it in the entrepreneurial world see the big picture.

They realize they will most likely fail at least a few times before they succeed. You won’t see them wallowing in self-pity, though, because they dust themselves off when things don’t go as planned, getting to work on their next big idea. This flexibility and resiliency serves them well.

5. Become An Expert In Your Niche

Successful entrepreneurs are always learning, troubleshooting, and gathering as much information as they can about their craft or area of expertise. They welcome feedback, self-correct when needed, while prioritizing self-improvement. They possess the perfect ratio of pride and humility, enabling them to become an authority in their field, yet their top priority is meeting the needs of those they serve.

6. Trust And Integrity

All successful businesses are build on trust. Without trust there will be no customers. Who would want to purchase a product or service from someone they don’t trust.? Those who are trustworthy also possess integrity.

We are here to develop character, which isn’t possible without the qualities of integrity, morality, and honesty. Integrity is the opposite of hypocrisy, and the foundation upon which productive and lasting relationships are formed and maintained.

7. They Aren’t Afraid To Fail

Those you have obtained success, acknowledge their mistakes, learn from them, refusing to be paralyzed by failure. They roll with the punches, realizing failure is just part of the process.

Many of the inventions we rely on and enjoy today, would never have come into being without the persistence and tenacity of those who didn’t give up. The old adage applies here: “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.”

8. They Find New Ways Of Doing Things

Because successful entrepreneurs don’t quit in the face of failure, they’re forced to find new ways of doing things. They realize it’s just a matter of finding what works before they succeed.

How many times and ways they’ll have to devise new strategies will be uncertain, but they’ll persevere until they find what works, learning new techniques along the way.

9. Self-Care Is Not Selfish

Not only are successful entrepreneurs highly invested in their business pursuits, they also consistently spend time on self-care. They see investing in themselves as a necessity rather than a selfish pursuit.

Creativity, innovation, and clarity can’t exist in an environment of burnout. Self-care prevents this unfortunate state, and it doesn’t take inordinate amounts of time, just regular doses of self-renewal.

10. Successful People Understand Why Giving Back Is Important

Successful people are aware that generosity leads to abundance. Those who are victorious in business pay it forward by mentoring those who are just learning. They are philanthropists, giving their time and talents for the good of the greater whole.

They invest in others, not withholding their knowledge and skills, caring deeply for those who are just beginning their journey. Those who have achieved their goals don’t hold back, but continue making and reaching goals both in life and business.

  1. Hi, I have just started working online as an affiliate marketer and there is so much to learn about what works and what doesn’t that my head is in a bit of a spin.

Trying to find the right niche was hard in the beginning, but I have now found something that I have a passion for, and hopefully I will be able to teach others about what I know.

From what I already know, I think the main characteristics of a successful entrepreneur has to be being an expert in your chosen niche. If you don’t know everything about your niche and don’t have all the answers then you won’t get the trust from your visitors, and if you don’t have the trust then your visitor count will soon drop.

You really have helped me a lot with your post and I am hoping to put it all into practice in the future,  Thanks 🙂

    • Hi Matthew,

I’m happy to hear you’ve started working online. It really is the best! My head was spinning in the beginning too. Every now and again it still does, especially when I’m learning something new.

Finding the right niche can be tricky. I was fortunate in that I was 95% sure of what I wanted my niche to be. Being an authority in your niche is certainly an essential characteristic of a successful entrepreneur for sure. No expertise equals no trust and no traffic, which equates to no conversions and sales.

Thanks so much for reading my article and commenting!
